Fight the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA)

Remember this video?

"The first thing I'd do as President is sign the Freedom of Choice Act. That's the first thing I'd do."

The folks over at Fight FOCA explain what that means:

The Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) would eliminate every restriction on abortion nationwide.

  • FOCA will do away with state laws on parental involvement, on partial birth abortion, and on all other protections.
  • FOCA will compel taxpayer funding of abortions.
  • FOCA will force faith-based hospitals and healthcare facilities to perform abortions.

In short, FOCA will pretty much undo every inch of progress the pro-life movement, with the help of the majority of Americans, has made in the last few decades.

We've handed the White House to an active member of the extremist minority even within the pro-abortion camp, but unfortunately, too few know it yet.

Fight FOCA has put together a petition that it will present to Barack Obama and members of Congress upon the introduction of FOCA:

I oppose the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA), because:

  • FOCA is a radical attempt to enshrine abortion-on-demand into American law;
  • FOCA seeks to sweep aside existing, protective laws that I and the majority of Americans support;
  • FOCA will prevent states from enacting protective measures in the future.

Go to Fight FOCA to sign it.

It has been over 35 years since the controversial Roe v Wade Supreme Court (7-2) decision to make early term abortions legal in the US. Despite the landmark decision in 1973 abortion rights are still being vigorously contested in many quarters of the country.
