CNN: Obama's Phone Calls Make Him "Decidedly Presidential"

CNN is trying real hard to embarrass itself even further after its disastrous election coverage. Just look at its "Political Ticker". A few weeks ago, I uncovered a severe case of journalistic malpractice where CNN had written a story about a "3-generation Republican" voting for Obama when, in fact, the man had been an active Democrat who had worked for Democratic campaigns and Democratic officials.

A couple of days ago, I was stunned to see this article titled "Obama acts presidential even as he lays low". Here is the entire article, just to highlight the fact that I'm not taking anything out of context (emphasis mine):

From CNN Associate Producers Martina Stewart

(CNN) – The man once referred to by a rival campaign as “the biggest celebrity in the world” has intentionally been keeping a very low profile in the awkward limbo period between Election Day and his inauguration on January 20.

But on Monday President-Elect Barack Obama stepped out a little and acted decidedly presidential in the middle of a disaster in California.

Obama called Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and L.A. Mayor Antonio Villraigosa “to express his concern over the wildfires and to receive an update on the situation,” according to a statement released by the Obama transition team Monday.

In the nearly two weeks since Election Day, Obama has taken great pains to make it clear that President Bush remains in charge of the country and its affairs until Obama’s swearing in two months. At his first press conference as president-elect, Obama stressed that the country only has one president at a time and, Obama did not participate in the recent economic summit of world leaders convened to discuss a coordinated response to the financial crisis that has roiled global securities and credit markets.

Let me get this straight. CNN felt the need to write an entire article praising Obama for being "decidedly presidential" because he... called "to express his concern?"

I'm sorry, is it me or is CNN's ludicrous desperation to idolize Obama making its articles sound like satire from The Onion?

"Decidedly presidential?" Could they lower the bar any further? He made a friggin' phone call to "express his concern".

Decidedly presidential.

I give up.

Paul, Paul, Paul... What do you expect from a pig but an oink? CNN has waaaaaay too much invested in an Obama presidency and must justify their worship even if it costs them their little remaining integrity. Prepare for more "ooo"ing and "ahhh"ing from them as he does such presidential things as walk across the room, peer out a window or shake someone's hand. I tell you what, lets just pretend it is satire! That way we can laugh instead of cry.
