Barack Obama Cannot 'Create' a Job

In a much-publicized video on Saturday, Barack Obama declared: “We will create millions of jobs by making the single largest new investment in our national infrastructure since the creation of the federal highway system in the 1950s.”

Obama’s claim, by definition, is false. Obama will not “create millions of jobs” or, as he also asserted, “put people back to work” by upgrading federal buildings and investing in national infrastructure. It is economically impossible.

Creating jobs through the private sector is the only way TRUE jobs can be created.

Even if Obama gets his way, I predict that the money that he wants to designate to these government jobs will take years to become a reality. The environmental agencies will tie these projects up for years since they will never be satisfied that they are "green" enough. If these agencies get their way, the costs will most certainly double or triple the original amount.

If Obama really wants to create true jobs, he should cut tax rates for private companies and reduce regulations.
