Beautiful Video: Republican Congressman Booed For Five Straight Minutes at Tea Party
What I loved the most about the tea parties is that they were full of people who understand that most Republican politicians are in on the big-government action too. These protesters are not the type that blindly contributes to the GOP season after season. No no no. They are people who watch what their congressmen do, and call them out on it. They are people who contribute to the Club for Growth instead of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, and who would happily jump into a primary battle to replace the likes of Arlen Specter with the likes of Pat Toomey.
There was little more nauseating for me than hearing that so many Republican politicians - the same politicians who have actively grown government and supported the bailouts - tried at the last minute to hitch their wagons to the tea parties and to use them for political gain. How ironic that they wanted to promote their careers through tea parties that exist precisely because of these politicians' awful records.
But thankfully, the people at the tea parties understood what was going on. Michelle Malkin lists a few examples of Republican politicians being rejected at the tea parties, and posts this wonderful video below of GOP Congressman Gresham Barrett being booed, non-stop, during the entirety of his speech, after supporting TARP and now voicing support for the Porkulus. This makes me so proud.
Remember that our two-party system is by no means perfect, but it does give us a way to deal with such politicians: primary their a**. We always have more than two options if we act early enough.
